Product Description
This red wine offers aromatics of red fruits, violets, cypress and earth notes. The fresh palate has bright cherries, mineral and spice, with vibrant acidity, soft tannins and a long, smooth finish. The Chianti Classico Riserva comes from grapes grown in slightly warmer vineyard blocks within the estate. Elevations of these vineyards range between 985 feet to 1,640 feet with a diversity of soils (river rock, sand, clay, basalt, schist). This wine is aged in French oak for 10 months and undergoes a minimum of 24 months total aging before release for greater intensity and added complexity.
In 1996, our vineyard team conducted a detailed study of the soil, topography and climate to gain a complete understanding of the complexities of the land. These details, along with a more detailed understanding of the diversity of soils, guided decisions around where to plant new vines and varieties. Tight vine spacing, low yields and modern winemaking methods - with an understanding of Italian tradition - results in wines that are rich, pure, regionally specific and highly expressive.
Pierre Seillan has spent the past five decades perfecting his micro-cru philosophy to create world-class wines. He works closely with winemaker Lawrence Cronin and his Italian team, believing his job is to respect tradition, but also enhance the future.
